After the audience in Brussels, the project “Town of Miners” was presented to the visitors of 13th Council of Europe Meeting of the Workshops for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention, that was held on Cetinje (Montenegro) from October 2nd - 3rd. Participants agreed that this project is unique as it is the first of its kind in the Western Balkans that deals with the rehabilitation of industrial heritage.
This project with great importance for positioning of Serbia on the
tourist map of Europe, was presented by Ms. Jasminka Luković Jaglicić, Director
of Regional Economic Development Agency for Šumadija and Pomoravlje and Ms.
Biljana Filipović, Head of the Department for European Integration.
Speakers stressed that the project is characterized by an
integrated and multi-sectorial approach and focuses on the establishment of a
Regional Heritage Center and eco-tourism. They semphasized that the project vision,
defined by the community and stakeholders, is to make Senjski Rudnik an attractive
historic town providing excellent tourist service, educational and recreational
facilities and a desirable quality of life.
According to the first impressions, Senjski Rudnik, as a place
of an early industrial society, for sure will be one of the most valuable places
to visit, and “a must see” for scientist, students and all people who seeks to find
out the world of industrialization and have desire to travel back in time.
